The areas in the province of Turin traditionally destined to the cultivation of corn are Canavese, the lower Val di Susa and the plain stretching from Turin to Pinerolo.
The cultivation of various ancient varieties (yellow and red Pignoletti, Ostenga, Nostrano dell'Isola, white, yellow and red Ottofile) has continued until the present day.
These precious late ripening varieties of corn, grown throughout the province, are used to produce polenta meal of superior quality and taste.
